Pier to Pub 2015
A New Year, and another annual ‘Grand Final’ of swimming (as some, but not all, like to describe it). This year Lorne didn’t turn on its typical sparkling summer day – it was mostly overcast, but the rain thankfully held off so we were able to sit and banter around our usual team table. Flat conditions meant that it was a fast swim this year. Once again members did the club proud, with 7 of the 12 Belugas coming in the top 50 finishers for their age category. Raoul Mulder and Anthony Ferguson’s traditional rivalry came down to a sprint on the beach and a wafer-thin 7-second margin, while Sue Cox and Anthony Purcell showed why they are true club legends, with an amazing 6th and 3rd placing in their respective age categories. Well done to everybody on a fantastic set of performances! P2P 2016 may seem like a long way off now, but we’ll be back training for it on Monday morning!
Top 3 finishers in the Pier to Pub 2015 Men’s Veteran Male category. L-R: Beluga Anthony Purcell (3rd) with Francis Christian (1st) and Tim Boness (2nd).
