6th Belugas Lorne Winter Pier to Pub

  It’s a pilgrimage known to most now: the annual Winter Pier to Pub. In groups of four or five we transcended the Great Ocean Road and descended upon Lorne. The temperature was nine degrees. There were clouds- grey in nature, and indeed a light sun shower. In usual tradition, when the commencement of the swim was imminent the clouds parted and the sun shone. Waves pounded. Brighton Winter Mile 2017

The winter prequel to our beloved winter Lorne pier to pub this year surfaced as the Brighton Mile. The perfect winter’s day with a gentle sunrise saw the scene set for a cold plunge at the Brighton sea baths. All the prepartion had been completed over a series of weeks and the chilly bay was now a friend.
